Strict and flexible website blocker

Jiyuu gives you flexible ways to block distracting websites and stay in the zone. You can set strict restrictions and locks so you won't easily bypass your own rules when temptation strikes. Currently available as a free Windows desktop app, with a Microsoft Store release coming soon!

Blocks that are hard to undo

Jiyuu runs as a system-level service on Windows 11, so it keeps working even if you try to close it. Block specific URLs, entire domains, or keywords. Pair it with a password, timer, or usage limit so you can't just turn it off when temptation hits.

Your blocks, your rules

Choose how blocked sites look and how hard they are to deactivate. Whether you want a gentle nudge or an iron-clad lock, Jiyuu has a mode for it.

Choose how a block feels

Grayscale drains the dopamine from distracting pages. Blur makes them unreadable. Cover locks the page entirely. Mute kills audio and video. Pick whatever works for you.

Lock your blocks against yourself

The hardest person to block is yourself. Use password locks, random-text challenges, timers, and usage limits to make sure you can't undo a block on impulse.

Everything else you'd want

Beyond blocking, Jiyuu gives you the tools to actually understand and improve your browsing habits.

Frequently Asked Questions

I accidentally locked myself out with a strict block and can't uninstall Jiyuu. What can I do?
If you got locked out because of a strict timer or password, don't worry, you can use the emergency uninstaller script from our GitHub: https://github.com/xinzhao2627/jiyuu-uninstaller. Just download and run the BAT file to cleanly close the background watchdog and remove Jiyuu.
Found a bug or have an idea for a feature? Where can I share it?
We'd love to hear your feedback! Drop an email to rainnsoft@gmail.com or open an issue over on GitHub Issues.
How do I get started with installing Jiyuu on Windows?
First, grab the Windows installer from our Download page. Next, install the companion extension for your browser via the Extension Guide and toggle on private/incognito access. Video walkthroughs are also available on our official YouTube channel.
Why does Jiyuu require both a desktop app and a browser extension?
They work together as a team. The desktop app prevents bypasses and stops you from simply ending the process in Task Manager. The browser extension handles page-level blocking, like turning sites grayscale, blurring clickbait headlines, or blocking specific URL paths without slowing down your internet.
Which web browsers does Jiyuu support?
Jiyuu works with Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, and Opera GX. Check out our Extension Guide for simple setup steps for each browser.
